ABOUT ASTROBASE SPACE TECHNOLOGIES
Astrobase is a pioneering spacetech startup founded by prominent Senior ISRO scientists and IIT Bombay alumni with over 20 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, testing and flying advanced Cryogenic Launch Vehicles. Driven by a vision to make India a Space tech powerhouse, we are developing innovative launch vehicles that will transform space exploration. At Astrobase, you’ll be part of a team creating history in the Indian space industry. Our goal is to become the first private space company from India to land on the moon economically.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Upper Stage and Booster Stage Drawings
• Prepare detailed part, sub-assembly and assembly drawings for the upper stage and booster stage, including tanks, inter-stage structures, thrust frames, brackets, feed lines and propulsion system components.
• Convert 3D CAD models from design engineers into manufacturing drawings, applying correct dimensioning, tolerancing and GD&T as per ASME Y14.5.
• Prepare fabrication and weld drawings, machining drawings, sheet metal flat patterns and detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Prepare plumbing, piping and tubing layouts and isometric drawings for propellant, pressuring and pneumatic systems.

2. Assembly, Integration & Testing (AIT) Support
• Prepare stage assembly and integration drawings, including assembly sequences, exploded views, torque tables and fastener callouts.
• Prepare Interface Control Drawings (ICDs) between subsystems, and between the upper stage and booster stage.
• Design and draft integration jigs, assembly fixtures, lifting and handling equipment, transportation cradles and other Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
• Prepare layouts for test stands, test article mounting and instrumentation for structural, proof pressure, leak and hot-fire tests.
• Update drawings to as-built condition based on feedback from the shop floor and the integration team.

3. Drawing Control and Documentation
• Maintain drawing numbering, revision control and release through PDM/PLM, and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Check drawings for accuracy, manufacturability and compliance with Astrobase drafting standards before release.
• Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality and supplier teams to resolve drawing queries, and support First Article Inspection. • Support documentation needed for AS9100D compliance and audits.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. ITI (Draughtsman – Mechanical), Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace or Production Engineering.
2. 3–6 years (ITI/Diploma) or 2–4 years (B.E./B.Tech) of mechanical drafting experience in aerospace, defence, space or high-precision manufacturing.
3. Strong proficiency in at least one 3D CAD tool (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD-3D and 2D, Solid Works, Fusion) .
4. Sound knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), engineering drawing standards, fits and tolerances, weld symbols and surface finish callouts.
5. Good understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, sheet metal, welding, fabrication and assembly, and how drawings must support them.
6. Experience preparing assembly drawings, BOMs and fixture or tooling drawings. 7. Attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple drawing packages to tight timelines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
• Experience with launch vehicle, missile, aircraft or satellite structures and their integration.
• Experience drafting GSE, integration jigs, handling fixtures or test stand layouts.
• Experience with propulsion plumbing, piping isometrics or pressure system drawings.
• Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems (SolidWorks PDM, Teamcenter, Windchill or similar).
• Experience working with ISRO, HAL, DRDO or their vendors.
• Experience in an AS9100-certified organisation
