ABOUT ASTROBASE SPACE TECHNOLOGIES
Astrobase is a pioneering spacetech startup founded by prominent Senior ISRO scientists and IIT Bombay alumni with over 20 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, testing and flying advanced Cryogenic Launch Vehicles. Driven by a vision to make India a Space tech powerhouse, we are developing innovative launch vehicles that will transform space exploration. At Astrobase, you’ll be part of a team creating history in the Indian space industry. Our goal is to become the first private space company from India to land on the moon economically.

ROLE OVERVIEW
Develops the software that automates testing of launch vehicles and their sub-systems, from reading the test requirements to delivering a fully integrated, deployed test system. The role is mainly software development, but the engineer works hands-on with data acquisition cards, test instruments and test hardware every day, so a solid working knowledge of measurement and test equipment is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBIITIES

1.    Test requirements & instrument analysis
•    Analyse test requirements and define what needs to be measured, controlled and recorded.
•    Study the instruments and sensors involved: their characteristics, limitations and communication interfaces.

2.    Software development
•    Develop software to interface with data acquisition and I/O cards (PCI, PCIe, PXI, VXI, LXI) and test instruments.
•    Build automated test software that runs test sequences, acquires and logs data, and reports results.

3.    Integration, test & deployment
•    Integrate the software with test hardware and instruments; carry out system integration and system-level testing.
•    Debug and resolve complex hardware/software issues using test benches and simulation.
•    Build, release and deploy software at test facilities; maintain code in version control with CI/CD.
•    Document software design, test procedures and user guides.

  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering.
•    3–6 years of relevant experience.
•    Strong programming skills in C++ with Qt; working knowledge of Python.
•    Proven experience in hardware/software integration.
•    Good working knowledge of electrical, electronic and thermal measurement and test equipment (e.g. power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters), and how to troubleshoot it.
•    Understanding of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test architecture.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•    Comfortable working across multiple teams and with changing priorities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Experience with Git-based code management and CI/CD pipelines.
•    Experience creating plant models for HIL testing.
•    Experience with automated test equipment on avionics or aerospace programmes; equivalent test-system experience from automotive or other industries is equally relevant.
•    Knowledge of communication interfaces and protocols: RS-422/RS-232, Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP.
•    Experience setting up and configuring network switches.
